What is Circular stapler?

Instrument used in stapling digestive canals during surgery for the colon, rectal cancer, stomach and esophagus.

The Circular stapler is used throughout the alimentary tract for the creation of end-to-end, end-to-side and side-to-side anastomosis in both open and laparoscopic techniques.

Laparoscopic Surgery method

Definition

Also called 'Minimally invasive surgery(MIS)' or 'Keyhole surgery'. Laparoscopic surgery is a modern surgical technique in which operations are performed far from the aimed location through small incision(usually 0.5~ 1.5cm) elsewhere in the body.

Advantages

1. Reduced hemorrhaging, which reduces the chance of needing a blood transfusion. 
2. Pain and hemorrhaging are reduced due to smaller incisions and shorten recovery time.
